The Unwanted Ones – Cardano NFT

An art-based project that will introduce the outcasts of blockchain in animated PFPs.

The Unwanted Ones is one of those projects that reminds me of some cartoon from my childhood. In our case, that would be Hey Arnold!, a comedy animation that first aired on Nickelodeon in 1996. I will not get into details on the animation here, but the unwanted character seems like someone that could star in that show. Thus far, we know that the project wants to retain its artistic value and does not include any utility whatsoever. However, the possibility is open for the future. Finally, it is worth mentioning that a drop of animated shorts will also occur.

The project is the creation of two long-time friends, Kiwi and Sven. These two met back during college and since then have remained on the creative side, starting their own studio. In particular the studio takes jobs concerning illustrations and animations. So, this tells me experience. However, it would be absolutely amazing if the team provided a website or a portfolio of the jobs that they have worked on.

Furthermore and into some details concerning the team, Sven is someone that is in the CNFT space for quite sometime now. And you probably know him from The Cardano Lounge Discord server as he is one of the co-founders. Additionally, he is a community moderator and artist for the Ugly Bros project.

As for Kiwi, we know that he is a close friend to Sven and a newcomer to the Cardano blockchain. Unfortunately, there’s not much else about him. But I guess his journey just began and we will get to know him better as the time passes.

Finally, I would like to add here that even though the information available is not very adequate, it doesn’t matter that much. Why? Well because so far the project offers art and that’s that. However, for any future utilities, I would suggest that the team opened up to the possibility of fully doxxing themselves. And as I said above, a great bonus would be a studio portfolio of their past jobs.

Discord & Twitter

It is very clear by now that an artwork such as the one we have in this project is very popular. And that reflects in the whole engagement around it. Now, I wouldn’t say that the community is huge or anything but for a new project, they seem to have gathered an adequate amount of members. And as I always say it doesn’t matter how big you are, you need to have engagement. Because that is the main reason that keeps you growing.

The artwork uses this clear line, minimalistic work to provide the funny look to each character. Of course the collection is a generative one and there are multiple traits available. However, there is one difference from most of the similar collections. There is the element of animation embedded in each piece. Quite cool isn’t it?

You can see some examples of the artwork below:

The website is as simple as the overall concept, which I think is really suiting. Also, I believe that it could be a lot better in terms of the overall design. Finally, I really appreciate the fact that we have enough information in here to conduct a proper research.

The roadmap can be considered as informative, because it is the main source from which you can understand the project in depth. However, it lacks a timeline and as a result we do not know when exactly each step will take place. And a proper roadmap needs one.

Closing Thoughts

The Unwanted Ones is a unique project that has some cool animations for its PFP collection. A trait that sets it apart from the competition. Additionally, the artwork has that style that is appealing to the community and that shows. Also, the team seems like a professional duo that are in it for the long term, considering the amount of time that Sven has been around. Finally, I would like to mention that of course there are some imperfections but it is interesting to see how they will improve moving forward.
